Robert Bloss is a painter and sculptor born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. After graduating from Washington High School, Bob went on to be awarded a scholarship to further his artistic skills at the Herron School of Art and Design located in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Throughout his career, Bob has been driven by his personal understanding of what it means to be an artist. Often saying, “A true artist can take anything that is put in front of them and turn it into something special”. Those personal beliefs drove Bob to build a body of work that is fresh, bold, soft and dynamic. From original paintings inspired by cultural experiences (that he and his wife found energizing), delicate wire creations, to 20’ stainless steel free form sculptures, Bob’s work clearly reflects true inspiration coupled with the desire to challenge his own talents and skill. Constantly changing and exploring new styles, testing and pushing the limits of his own creative abilities.
Bob gives most of the credit for his work to late his wife Leslie who passed in 2021. Her eclectic elegant taste and complete respect for cultural heritage inspired Bob to create some of his most well-loved pieces. Married for 55 years, Leslie was his greatest source of support, both at home and in his creative endeavors in business. Leslie was/is his muse, best friend and true love.
Prolific by nature, Robert continues to paint alongside his daughter in South Bend, Indiana.
